About the Journal

The Journal of Physiotherapy in Mental Health is an international, bilingual, open-access scientific journal dedicated to the dissemination of knowledge at the intersection of physiotherapy, mental health, and biopsychosocial well-being.

The journal provides a platform for the exchange of knowledge, research, critical reflection, and clinical innovation, promoting a comprehensive understanding of health that recognizes the interaction between physical, psychological, social, and contextual factors influencing human functioning.

The journal publishes original research articles, reviews, case reports, perspectives, editorials, and other scholarly contributions that advance the field of physiotherapy in mental health and related areas. Submissions are welcomed from all areas of physiotherapy as well as from related disciplines concerned with human movement, rehabilitation, public health, health promotion, prevention, social inclusion, and person-centred care.

While specific areas of interest continue to evolve alongside scientific advances and contemporary practice needs, the journal particularly welcomes contributions related to:

• Mental health physiotherapy and psychosocial rehabilitation.
• Trauma, violence, and trauma-informed approaches.
• Physical activity, exercise, and mental health.
• Persistent pain and complex health conditions.
• Social determinants of health and health equity.
• Health promotion and prevention.
• Neuroscience, emotional regulation, and embodiment.
• Person-centred care and evidence-informed practice.
• Education, research, and professional development in physiotherapy.
• Interdisciplinary models of care and community health.

Beginning in 2026, the Journal of Physiotherapy in Mental Health adopts an annual publication schedule as part of its editorial development and future indexing strategy.
